Why do girls toy with a guy's emotion?

They'd say something about a guy is stupid when they really like it (I can tell) or think it's funny (such as something they say). It's like they're being hypocritical. Then they avoid the nice guys and go after guys who mistreat them or are just idiots. Why do girls do this? Why do they plat\y games and act like they don't care?
