How to change duration for mp4?

i have some videos i want to convert from mp4 to wmv, the converter im using wont let me convert any videos longer than 4 minutes so i was wondering if i con take a video and cut it in to two seperate 2 minute videos so i can convert. but when i play the video the player it uses doesnt have an option like that, so is there any other way?
