What's the best free software that can cut and convert videos?

Get WinFF, it is based on FFMPEG. Also, converting videos requires a really fast CPU if you want it to go fast. Even a 4 core intel core i7 860 (my computer) takes about an hour to convert 30 minutes of full HD video.
